Maureen Ann Buckle R.N., B. Voc. Ed.
September 03, 1942 – March 13, 2018
BUCKLE, MAUREEN ANN (September 3, 1942 – March 13, 2018): It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maureen Buckle, R.N., B. Voc. Ed. Predeceased by her mother, Ann (Griffin) Buckle, her father, Edward James (Jim) Buckle, and her great love, Ted Blanchard.
Maureen was a kind, gentle, yet strong person, whose life is celebrated with great love and respect by a wide circle of wonderful caring friends, her nursing family, her many cousins, her two beloved sisters and their families, and her step-family: the Blanchard clan. She was blessed to have had an opportunity to spend time and share memories with many loved ones in her final days.
Left to mourn, sisters Jeannie Buckle of Red Deer, AB, and Trudy Buckle Gordon (Garry) of Halifax, NS. Auntie Maureen will be sadly missed by Jeannie’s family: daughter Paula Smith, and grand-daughter Ella Smith, and daughter Andrea (Russ) Caraca-Hart and grandchildren Sophia and Olivia, and Trudy’s family: daughter Jennifer (Anthony) Stewart, grandchildren Ben, Coby, and Audra, son David Gordon, and daughter Elizabeth (Adam Hammersley) Gordon.
Maureen will be sadly missed by Ted’s family: sons Ted (Phoebe Bartlett), Paul (Julie Cork), Craig (Pauline Jensen), Dave (Sing Lee), daughter Kim (Steve Peddle), grandchildren Teddy, Mark (Mandy), Kathryn, and Michelle Blanchard; Rachelle Cork, Jake and Matt Blanchard; Allison Blanchard and her mother Susan; Josh and Luke Peddle; and great-grandchildren Charlee and Owen.
Special mention of cousins Connie MacLeod, Jeanne O’Brien, and Theresa Mackenzie, dear friends Barb Hawley, Mary Donovan, Sheila Howell, Eleanor Nolan, Helen Marie Roche, Grace Cooper, Eleanor Gushue, and Heddy Peddle. She will also be sadly missed by Theresa Power, who was like the daughter she never had.
As a trained registered nurse and nursing instructor, Maureen embraced her health challenges with a professional and pragmatic approach. Her dry wit and masterful ‘eye rolls’ never failed through her health decline, spent at St. Clare’s, the hospital where she entered the world, trained as a nurse and spent a significant period of her career, and where she resigned herself to her departure with grace and peace. Thank you to Dr. Leonard, Dr. Major, and to the St. Clare’s medical teams for her care.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s, on Thurs, March 15, 2-4; 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Teresa’s on Fri, March 16 at 11:00 am. After the service, the Buckle and Blanchard families invite you to join us for an afternoon reception in celebration of Maureen’s life at the Westview Village clubhouse in her neighbourhood of L’Anse aux Meadows Crescent, off Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Maureen Ann Buckle RN B Voc Ed September 03 1942 March 13 2018.source
