C. Stuart Stovel, born in Winnipeg February 4, 1930, passed away on March 2, 2018. He leaves his much loved wife Joyce (nee: Jamieson), a son Geoff (Marion), daughters Marni (Owen) and Suzanne Oldfield, granddaughters Sarah Oldfield, Robyn Oldfield, Kelly Stovel and grandson Michael Oldfield. He also leaves a number of nephews and nieces. Stuart was predeceased by his parents (Gordon A. & Edna McDiarmid Stovel), two brothers Gordon (Ferne) and Burton (Chick) and two sisters Nancy (Syd) Jackson and Betty Merrill Stovel. Born and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Stuart joined Hilton Bros. Ltd., a corrugated box manufacturer which later became a division of Domtar Packaging Ltd. After a transfer to Toronto in 1961 he came to Peterborough with his family in 1965, as District Manager for Domtar Packaging Ltd. In 1969 he left Domtar and became the founding president of Lectron Radio Sales Ltd., an electronic communication and accessory distribution company. He was a very active and proud Rotarian (Past President & Past Secretary), a golf and curling member and former board member at the Peterborough Golf & Country Club, and a former board member of Camp Kawartha. At Stuart’s request there will be no visitation or service.
