Marion Ethel
Moore – 91, Five
Islands, Colchester County, passed away quietly on Monday, March 5,
2018, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Five Islands, she
was the only daughter of the late Everett and Alice (Corbett)
Leslie.
For several years, she served as Postmistress in Lower
Economy and was an active member of the United Church, Cobequid Garden
Club and Home and School Association. An avid reader throughout her
life, she passed on her love of books and respect for writing to her
three children. She was a great cook and loved picnics on the beach
with her family, friends and the annual summer residents from the US
in Lower Economy; these picnics were often enriched with storytelling
of local history.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Moore, Wolfville;
sons, Eric (Debbie), Economy; Danny (Judith), Bedford; grandchildren,
Amy (Shawn), Windsor Junction; Charles Moore (Michelle), Lumsden,
Saskatchewan; great grandchildren, Callie, Sarah, Austin, Nelly, Jace;
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband,
Lloyd Moore; brother, Allen Leslie. The family would like to convey
special thanks to friends and neighbours Alice, Valerie, Sheldon,
Ellen and Joan for their friendship and many kindnesses toward our
mother while she was still able to live at her home.
Marion’s family will receive friends from 1-1:45
p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018, followed by the funeral service at 2
p.m., all in Peniel United Church, 913 Highway 2, Five Islands,
Reverend Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Reception will follow in
the church hall. Interment at a later date in Peniel United Church
Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in
Marion’s memory to Peniel United Church (Building Fund) or
Peniel United Church Cemetery are welcomed. (Peniel United Church is
the historic church for generations of her mother’s
family.)
