HIENDL Angela Hedda Scholze May 22nd 1940 — February 24 2018

HIENDL, Angela Hedda (Scholze)
May 22nd, 1940 — February 24, 2018
Angela was born in Munich, Germany May 22nd, 1940 to Fritz and Hannah Scholze. After a courageous, four-year battle with lung cancer, Angela sadly passed away on February 24, 2018.
Predeceased by her parents, Fritz and Hannah Scholze, step-mother Rosa Scholze, sister Hannah and nephew Ralf. Angela lost her parents at a very young age and was raised by her stepmother. After surviving World War II, she started her apprenticeship as a secretary.
In 1956 she followed the love of her life, Tony, to Canada. They got married on January 18th, 1957 in Toronto and spent 61 wonderful years together. Their first child, Susan, was born May 7, 1958 and second child Anthony, was born August 29, 1960.
Tony worked in industrial construction. In the first 5 years, they moved 18 times to different construction sites from Windsor, Ontario to Sorel, Quebec. After settling down in Burlington, Ontario, they built their first house as a Centennial project in 1967. Angela was a stay at home Mom raising her two children who were her pride and joy. The children always came first.
To her daughter, she was a loving and nurturing Mom and will always be remembered for all her special qualities and talents.
To her son, a goalie, she was a proud hockey Mom. She wrote and submitted articles about hockey to the Hamilton Spectator. After Susan and Tony left home to follow their own dreams, Angela and Tony became empty nesters and tried condo living. They were able to spend 11 winters in Florida. Angela had employment with Canada Post and Simpson’s department store while in Ontario. In 1992, they moved to Winfield, BC to build their dream home in the Carrs Landing area. Angela found employment at the Zellers Department store in Kelowna.
Angela always strived to do her best in whatever she did. She was a very classy, fashion-conscious lady, who always made sure she looked her best.
After living 13 years in Winfield, BC, it became necessary for Tony to have a hip replacement and it became too much of a chore to maintain the property. It was necessary to live in a condo once again. After two years in the condo, they were looking for a new home and found one in Gallagher’s Golf Course community. Even though they were not golfers, the quality of life available there was so very important to them. Angela’s creative touch was noticeable inside and outside of the home. Her love of flowers and gardening made her a happy camper. She loved touring the countryside with their BMW roadster (top down) with their special group of friends. Their last road cruise was to Oliver, BC, on October 8, 2017. Angela was admitted to Hospice October 15th. Angela and Tony enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona and cruising to Alaska. She also enjoyed several camping trips in Florida in their Volkswagen campers. Another one of Tony and Angela’s greatest pleasures was sailing their boats on Lake Ontario, off the coast of southern Florida and on Okanagan Lake. She was a very enthusiastic photographer creating many photo albums as a hobby.
In addition to her husband Tony, Angela is survived by her children Susan Hiendl (Bryan Munchrath) and Anthony (Kelly) Hiendl, granddaughters Jillian and Lindsay Hiendl, all of Calgary and brother Fritz (Hilde dec.) Scholze (nieces and nephews) of Germany.
Many heartfelt thanks go out to our family members, friends and to the very caring and professional staff at the Kelowna Hospice House during Angela’s stays. Also many thanks to the special team of Dr. S. Rao and Dr. I. Mohamed, including the caring nurses, who all gave Angela the very best care and treatment possible at the Cancer Centre.
There will be a Memorial Gathering in the Spring, date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angela’s name to the Kelowna Hospice House – 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2Z6 and/or the Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Cancer Centre- 399 Royal Ave, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.
Angela touched many lives and she will be missed.
