Florence Stewart
Stewart (MacPherson), Florence Edna, age 73, of Bedford, passed away on February 7, 2018 in the QEII, VG Site after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Spencer) and Frederick MacPherson.
Florence was a graduate of Sydney Academy. She met Don Stewart at Pollett Drug Store where they worked together and married in 1967. Florence supported the family while Don finished his education in Ottawa. Florence was part of the Sackville Skating Club for many years. Florence could always be found in the kitchen making feasts or treats of some sort to share with friends or for her grandson. Florence’s passion for her family was what made her days complete. She couldn’t have been prouder of their accomplishments and beamed when she spoke of her grandson Nicholas.
Florence is survived by her daughter Lynn (Terry) Yuill; grandson Nicholas, all of Bedford; brother William “Bill” (Donna) MacPherson, Sydney; 3 nephews
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Donald “Don” in 2016.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Monday February 12th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 2pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev. P.A. Sandy McDonald, officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
