Ruby Marlene Loomer

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruby Loomer announces her passing on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Born March 25, 1937 in Halifax Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte (FitzGerald) Carey. Ruby was predeceased by her loving husband David and her beloved infant daughter Bronwyn. She is survived by son Alex (Michelle Nugent) Loomer, Kingston, NS; daughter Shannon (Richard Carr) Loomer, Toronto, ON; brother Michael (Teresa) Carey; sisters Sharon (Doug) Sanford and Deborah (Ron) Boyd and grandchildren Mya, Hayley, Ariel and Shiloh. Ruby’s life was spent nurturing those around her, whether it was her family, her students, or her plants. She was a patient, loving caregiver to her husband through his years of illness. Teaching was her joy during her working years and once retired, her favorite activities were gardening, writing, singing as a member of the Middleton Choral Society, painting, and being with family. She enjoyed travelling and being surrounded by life’s beauty in the form of flowers, music, and art. Ruby had a creative, giving spirit that will never be forgotten. In keeping with Ruby’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service for Ruby will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service.
