Marie Thérèse Florette Fokes (née Thiffault)
Passed away peacefully at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston on Friday January 12, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Predeceased by her husband Dean Richmond Fokes, as well as by her parents Marie Louise Lavoie and Majoric Thiffault and 13 brothers and sisters. Beloved mother of Gail Mary Fokes (Bruce Stansfield), Jill Elizabeth Fokes, Deanna Lynn Fokes and Natalie Ann Fokes. Cherished Grandmaman to Chantal Marie Richard (Eric Sears), Christine Elizabeth McCullough (Matthew), Red Lenore Fawkes (née Richard-Dean Joseph McGrath) and Ciara Anne-Elizabeth McGrath. Great-Grandmaman to Dean James Sears and Josaphine Isabelle Sears. A varied and fulfilling business administrative career took Thérèse from the E.B Eddy Company, the Canadian Division of the International DEW Line, RCMP, CMHC, Ottawa Catholic School Board, and CJOH/CTV. Thérèse’s most accomplished and proud career highlight was her years working for the National Advisory Council on Aging as the Council Liaison Officer in Ottawa, while at the federal government from 1978 until her retirement in 1991. Thérèse’s greatest joy was her family. Precious to her were the day to day turnings of life with her four little girls and their loving father. In time, her grandchildren and great grandchildren filled her heart with love, pride and treasured times and memories. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at

on Tuesday, January 16 from 3 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 17 at 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
