In Loving Memory
Bertrand (Bertie, Bert) William Nelson – 96 passed away peacefully at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst on Tuesday, 16th January 2018. He was born 30 March 1921 in Pebbles, Saskatchewan to the late Aubrey P. and Violet E. (Smith) Nelson. They moved back to Fenwick, NS when Bert was 2 months old.
He first worked at Tantramar Motors Ltd. and then at Dunlap Bros. Ltd. before retiring.
He was a life member of Chignecto Lodge #11 of the Knights of Pythias and was Grand Chancellor in 1968. He was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Amherst, NS.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter Linda (Gary) Bowser, grandson Malcolm (Tammy) Bowser Fredericton, great-grandson Kyle (Nicole) Bowser and great-great grandson Liam of Saint John; siblings; Owen (Shirley), Brookdale, Stanley (Carol), Toronto; sister’s Shirley Arsenault, Bright, ON and Dorcas MacEachern, Amherst; sister in law Elizabeth Nelson, Brookdale, Sheila Nelson, Brookdale, Eleanor Nelson, Amherst; June Kozlenko, Whitby, ON; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Bessie Ruth Carty, siblings Audrey (Ernie) Coates, Hilton, Laurie, Alden, Leonard, Douglas & Kencil.
There will be no funeral or visitation and cremation will take place under the direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS. Burial for both Bert & Bessie will take place in the Fenwick Cemetery in the spring, as per their wishes.
