Hamstra, Reverend Gerald
“Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty” (Isaiah 33:17a). In the evening of January 13, 2018, in his 91st year, Gerald Hamstra, minister of the gospel for 55 years, President of the Trinitarian Bible Society, faithful to the testimony of Jesus Christ. Dearly beloved husband of Theresa Hamstra (deVries) for 54 years, and devoted father and best friend of Alice Hamstra and Kathleen and Adrian Benschop (Hamstra) passed away to his eternal rest. Predeceased by his brother Jacob Hamstra, his sisters Kathleen Hamstra and Jeanette Haalstra (Hamstra), his brothers-in-law Ralph Haalstra, Jan de Vries and Chris Kuyken, and sister-in-law Ali Kuyken (de Vries). Survived by Grace Hamstra (Zylstra), Peter and Audrey Hamstra (Pronk), Peter and Willie VandenBerg (Hamstra), Anne and Peter Thomas (Procee), Liz and Allan White (Procee), many nieces and nephews and their children. He will be greatly missed around the world as a loving Pastor and faithful friend. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Family and friends will be received at the Ebenezer Free Reformed Church, 253 Weirs Lane, Dundas, Ontario on Wednesday, January 17 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service at the Ebenezer Free Reformed Church on Thursday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, 1324 2nd Concession West, Copetown, Ontario. Reverend L. J. Bikes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Trinitarian Bible Society.
