Jannette Hodgson
It is with great sadness that the family of Jannette Hodgson announces her passing on January 11, 2018 at St. Paul’s Palliative Care with her family lovingly by her side. Jannette was predeceased by her father Zoltan Katzenback and is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughter, Jezlyn (Karl); mother, Norma Katzenback; and her two brothers, Warren and Darcy Katzenback. Jannette was born in Regina and moved to Saskatoon with her family in 1965. She went on to graduate from Evan Hardy Collegiate in 1975 and graduated from the Interior Design Technology Program with honors from NAIT in 1979. Jannette and her hasband Bob were brought together by their two dogs, Bud and Duch in Dundurn. They married in 1995 and then had their daughter, Jezlyn in 1996. Jannette was a very self-motivated person who lived by the adage, “if you can conceive it, you can achieve it”. She had many careers throughout her life, starting out at Intercontinental Packers with her father. She went on to start her own graphic design and sign painting business, Kaz Designs. Her education took her to a career at City Hall as a Building Official for 31 years and she attained many certificates while there. Her final workplace was Tiger Eye Gems, working with her husband as an engraver and Accredited Jewellery Professional (GIA). Jannette was a very creative person who excelled in and taught Irish dance; she danced at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and received the Sullivan Cup. She also taught calligraphy and hand-lettered many certificates. Jannette was a very loving and devoted mother and wife. She was a very strong and down-to-earth woman with a wonderful sense of humour. She will be deeply missed. Donations in Jannette’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society- Breast Cancer Fund. A Private Family Service will be held.
