Marie Agatha (nee Malone) (Riley) Murphy, age 85, died peacefully on Saturday January 13, 2018 at Rocmaura Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in Goshen, NB on March 15, 1932, one of ten children, to the late Thomas and Annie (O’Connor) Malone.
After moving from Goshen to Saint John at a young age Marie married her first husband Frank Riley (predeceased 1978) and worked at the Simms Brush Factory and NB Telephone Company before staying at home to raise their 7 children in the North End. When they were all in school, Marie returned to the work force at the West Saint John K-Mart where she showed off her multi-tasking skills at the Customer Service Desk until she retired in 1992.
In 1989 Marie married her second husband, Eugene Murphy (predeceased 2009). They enjoyed each other’s company and spent many years relaxing with friends and family at the T&T Trailer Park in Coles Island, NB. Marie loved Irish and country music, dancing, playing cards and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Marie is survived by her seven children: Peter (Bridget); Kevin (Eva); Raymond (Sally); Martina McCullum( late Raymond); Frank (Wendy); John (Cindy); and Beth O’Donnell (Patrick); two Step Daughters: Patti Hachey (Rick) and Terrie Murphy; 14 Grandchildren: Heather, Megan, Christine, Michael (Krista), Joey (Sarah), Abby, Travis (Jenna), Jessica, John (Ashley), Josh, Justin (Jordan), Valine and Jillian; Jarrod (Kelly); seven Great Grandchildren; Sisters Irene Lawlor and Elsie McMillan; Sisters in Law Jessie Malone, Mona Riley and Mary Riley; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides Marie’s first husband Frank and second husband Eugene, Marie was predeceased by son in law Raymond McCullum; brothers Warren Malone (Sue); Leo Malone (Gert); Jim Malone (Inie) and Raymond Malone. Sisters Kay Long (Walter), Mildred O’Connor (Walter), Josephine LeBlanc (Romeo “Butch”); Brothers in Law: George Lawlor, Wayne McMillan, Dr. John Riley, Donald Riley (Melissa), Rev. Raymond Riley and Rev. George Riley.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society; Rocmaura Foundation; Bobby’s Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
