Obituary Overview
Carmella M. Ivy
IVY (Forgeron), M. CARMELLA – 85, Halifax. It is with a saddened heart that we share with you the passing of Carmella Ivy, on January 11, 2018 with her daughter by her side at Northwood Center in Halifax. She was born on January 21, 1932 in Port Royal, Cape Breton. She was a “quiet and gentle lady” and the youngest daughter of the late William (Willie) and Blanche (Marchand) Forgeron. After moving to Halifax she worked at the Moirs Chocolate Factory and later at W.H. Schwartz & Sons, until the closure of its Halifax branch in 1984. She leaves behind her only child and loving daughter Carol Ann, her son-in-law Dave, as well as two grandsons, Mark and Steven, who were her pride and joy and who always brought a smile to her face by just entering the room. She is also survived by her oldest sister, Stella Pellerine of Port Royal, Cape Breton and her brother Valma (Lucille) Forgeron of St. Catharine’s, Ontario, her sister-in-law Joyce Forgeron, White’s Lake, NS and many nieces and nephews – too many to mention by name. She was predeceased by her loving husband Paul and has joined him, her sister Theresa (Manuel) and brothers Albert, Tony, Frank, Dominque and Urbain in heaven – where they are probably having a great Cape Breton reunion. She was also predeceased by her brother Thomas in infancy. Besides her family, which was her first and foremost love, she loved gardening and could make almost anything grow into a beautiful flower. She spent endless hours creating beautiful gardens and never complained about an aching or tired muscle. She played many games of cribbage with Carol Ann over the last several years, winning her last game on Monday, January 8th. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Funeral mass with be held at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church, 6576 Bayers Road, Halifax on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Paul in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations can be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society (902 423 6183), Parkinson’s Society of Canada (902 422 3656), Heart and Stroke Foundation (902 423 7530) or, because she loved them so much, flowers would be welcomed. Words cannot express the sincere appreciation for the kindness and loving care that the staff of 3C Northwood Center gave to Carmella while she was under their care, as well as to the family members that shared this journey. Before living at Northwood, she spent several years at the Hazel House and thanks also go to Owen and Jeannine Hazel and their “golden girls” for their love and compassion.
You are no longer with us but you will live forever in our memories and our hearts.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Carmella Ivy 2018.source
