Allan Metivier
METIVIER: Allan Guy age 80 of Swift Current, SK passed away on January 6, 2018 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 from Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Reymundo Asis officiating. The pianist was Yollande Gorrill, the soloist was Pat Chomistek, and the honorary pallbearers were all of Al’s grandchildren Kamryn, Mitch, Chase, Nathan, Curtis, Owen, Branden and Brett. The interment service will take place at a later date. Al is survived by his wife of 55 years Shirley; sons Craig, Barry (Terri) and their boys Branden and Brett, and Glen (Shannon) and their boys Nathan, Curtis and Owen; daughter Debbie (Joe) Sakic and their children Mitchell, Chase and Kamryn; brother Richard and sister Lynn, Edie. He is predeceased by his mother Julliet at one month of age; his father Fred; grandparents Alphonse and Millie Metivier and Granny and Grandpa Martel; Irven and Bertha Studer who raised him until he was seven years old when he returned to live with his dad Fred; brother Dennis Studer; and parents-in-law Frank and Jean Ashton. Al attended Lac Pelltier Village School, Gravelbourg Kindergarden, and Ottawa Technical Schools. He worked at MacWilliam Construction, Sage and owned Al’s Top Rite and drove taxi. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and organized and started a boxing club where all his boys participated with Ray Carrigan and Mike Kucik who were a great help. Al’s number one passion was music of all kinds with golfing a close second. He loved spending time around the fire pit with his grandkids in the backyard, throwing sawdust in the fire to make it sparkle, sitting in the backyard swinging, sitting in the shade with a cup of coffee petting his two stray cats, wood working, and the golf channel. Al had a witty and quick sense of humor, and even during his illness at the hospital, he got the hiccups, Deb said he needed someone to scare him, he answered « give me a mirror to see myself. » He wasn’t much of a talker either, his favorite opening was, how’s the weather.
