It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce that Kent passed away peacefully at home on January 6th, 2018 at the age of 70 due to complications from scleroderma and lung disease. Kent was the son of the late Marion and Reginald Nickerson and was a lifetime resident of Bedford, Nova Scotia. Kent will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Dianne (Hippern). He was very proud of his children: Marcie (David), Keith (Melissa) and Kirk (Skye). The light of his life were his seven grandchildren Myra, Hadyn, Lacie, Kaden, Aidan, Oland and Easton. He is also survived by his brother Kevin (Susan), brothers-in-law Dennis (Edie), Gord (Sandy), Don (Norma), Mike (Mary), sister- in-law Jan (Ron) and best friends Garry and Judy White, as well as many nieces and nephews. Kent loved to spend time with his family and friends golfing, camping, going for road trips and travelling. He was a plumber/steam fitter by trade and retired from the Department of National Defence in 2007, after 30 years of service. Kent was a very proud and active volunteer in the Bedford community. He was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church, the Jaycees, the Bedford Lions Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95. He served in many capacities and received numerous awards. A Celebration of Kent’s life will be held at 11am, on Saturday January 13th, at All Saints Anglican Church, 1408 Bedford Highway. A reception will follow at The Royal Canadian Legion at 1772 Bedford Highway. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kent’s memory can be made to All Saints Anglican Church in Bedford or to the charity of your choice.
