Doris Jean Ward, 88, of Salt Springs, formerly of West River Station, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, with her family by her side.
Born in Eureka, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Olive (Thompson) Ward.
Doris could be found at the Boot Club on Saturday night, kicking up her heels. She enjoyed a good game of cards especially 45’s. She could be found in the kitchen preparing a meal or baking for family and friends. Doris found great enjoyment with having her family at her side, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by son, Jim “Bucky” Ward (Evelyn Doucette), Salt Springs; grandchildren, Sharon, Eric, Mike, Steven, and Ollie; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Cecil “Mickey” (Betty), Glen Haven Manor, sister-in-law Sharon Ward, West River Station; and is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by daughter Nancy Birch; daughter-in-law Dorothy “Dolly” Ward; sister Fannie (Howard); brothers, Lester “Bill” (Lois), Jack (Greta), and Jerry.
Doris’s family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Webber Cook officiating. Spring interment will take place. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
