Obituary of M. Geraldine Bulley
BULLEY, M. Geraldine – Halifax, died peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2017, in her 97th year, at Parkstone Enhanced Care. Gerry was born to the late John and Honora (Leahy) Bulley.
Educated at the Sacred Heart Convent, she took a secretarial training program at Miss Murphy’s Business graduated first in her class. Her first work was with the Federal Government at CFB Halifax at this time she was a volunteer Ambulance Driver with Camp Hill Hospital for those being transferred home from England during WWII. She later worked at Camp Hill Hospital as secretary to the Director of Dietetics, where she worked until she retired. Gerry was a “Women in Music” supporter of the NS Symphony, Alumni of the Sacred Heart Convent, a volunteer with the Kermess at the IWK Hospital and a supporter of Dalhousie University’s Molly Fund. She was a lifetime member of the Waegwoltic Tennis and Swimming Club, a member of Elder Learners of Halifax and long-time parishioner of St Thomas Aquinas Church.Her interests were wide and varied, she loved to walk, swim, play tennis, and sail. She was also an accomplished painter.
She is survived by twelve nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia who have very fond memories of their ‘Auntie’ Gerry’s fun-loving ways. She was predeceased by sister, Dorothy; brothers, John and Gordon.
There will be no public visitation or service. A family memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
