Vernon was born on October 3, 1932 in Camrose, Alberta. Sadly, he passed away on December 30, 2017 at the age of 85 years. He is survived by two sons; Gerald (Darla), Shane (Michele), four grandchildren; Kristofer, Kelsey, Jessica & Erik, brother; Gerald (Iola), sister; Alice Joan (Brad),brother-in-law; Don, sister-in-law; Helen, nieces; Carrie & Jane, nephews; Randy & Russell, three great-nieces, two great-nephews, one great-great nephew, & his special daughter, Tova.
Vernon was predeceased by his parents, Emma & Arthur (Camrose), sister Beatrice (Calgary), brother Walter (Minnesota), three infant sisters & one infant brother.
Vernon’s family would like to thank his other family, the staff of Capital Care Strathcona, Sherwood Park, for the loving & excellent care shown him throughout his 9-year residence. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Marilyn, more a sister than a companion, who continually went over & above her duties for the past 5 years.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Vernon’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Serenity Funeral Chapel 4715-50th Ave Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Cowboy casual dress, please. In accordance with Vernon’s wishes, his urn will be interred with his parents in Valley View Cemetery, Camrose, Alberta, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vernon’s name to Alberta Health Services, Capital Care Strathcona, Heritage House, 12 Brower Drive, Sherwood Park, Alberta, T8H 1V3, or to a charity of one’s choice.
