NELSON, William (Bill) Watson
After a long and full life, Bill passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 63 years to Majorie, predeceased by his granddaughter Lindsay, he will be sorely missed by his children Jane (Bill), Leslie (Gerald), Chris (Cindy) and Jennifer (Marty), his grandchildren Natasha (Ian), Ben, Drew (Erika), Claire, Carly (Ryan), Nicholas, Patrick, Stephanie, Garnet, Eoin, and Ally, and his great grandchildren Viola, Liesl, Ryker and Evie. Predeceased by his sisters Nancy, Jean and Barbara and brothers David and Samuel Jr., Bill will also be missed by his brother Lindsay (Julie), sister-in-law Bev, Watson cousins (Joe, Margaret and Dougie), large extended family and many friends. Bill was born and raised in the Burlington/Hamilton area. Beginning a career as a CA, he moved to the construction industry with Cooper Construction and completed his professional life as the owner of GT French Paper and Cardon Celcom Inc. After a fulfilling career he retired in 1992. In retirement Bill continued to be active in the community donating his time and talents to the Rotary Club of Hamilton, the Cootes Paradise Restoration Project, and the Steeltown Friends of Mohawk Music, among other endeavours. Bill was passionate about his family and loved to spend time with them particularly at the cottage in Temagami and the apartment in France. Bill was known for his generosity, boundless energy and appreciation of a fine wine. He was an avid traveler, a voracious conversationalist and a devoted friend. His family would like to thank the staff at the Riverside Glen Retirement Residence for their wonderful care and compassion. In his final days, we are grateful for the excellent medical treatment and support provided by the staff of the Guelph General Hospital. Funeral service and reception to be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline St., Burlington, ON, on Thursday, December 15 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, www.gghfoundation.ca or Parkinson’s Canada, www.parkinson.ca would be greatly appreciated.
