Obituary Overview
William Donald McMillan
It is with great sadness that the family of Don McMillan announces his passing on December 19, 2017.
Don is survived by his loving children: son Kirk (Verla), granddaughter Rebecca (Grant) and great-granddaughter Heather; son Kevin (Rhonda), granddaughter Aynsley (Martino), great-granddaughters Olivia and Caroline, and granddaughter Jayne (Spencer); nephews Jeff (Margo) and Chris (Jennie); cousins Jeff Black (Lois), and Patty Johnstone. He valued his many friends and family including the Korlak, and Dell’Oro families.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Frances; his parents Earle and Dorothy; brothers George (Ruth), Brian, Earle and sister Marjory; nephew Bruce, nieces Leona and Carolyn; and cousin Lainy Rubin.
Don served in the Royal Canadian Navy, HMCS Charlottetown during WWII. He was a member of the RCNA Winnipeg White Ensign Naval Club and Royal Canadian Legion. He retired from CP Rail in 1985 after 43 years of service. Don and Fran enjoyed many years of wintering in Texas and Victoria, and spending their summers at the cottage he built near Ignace, Ontario. He was an avid golfer.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Don.
At Don’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service.
