William Calvin MacLean
William C. MacLean, 83, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at
The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Born in Summerside, PEI, he was the son of the late Hampton
and Ruth (Sobey) MacLean. Bill was a graduate of Prince of Wales
College, Charlottetown, PEI and UNB (Fredericton). He worked as a
Mechanical Engineer as well as in Safety & Loss Control,
overseeing the Maritime Provinces with CN, retiring with 38
years’ service. Bill was a Life Member of Emmanuel Baptist
Church, serving in various capacities over the years. He will be
remembered as always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed
volunteering with the SPCA.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Frances
(Crawford) MacLean of Moncton; daughter, Marla Ruth MacLean of
Moncton; sons, Mark Alan MacLean (Annette) of Fredericton, Michael
John MacLean (Lori) of St. Catharine’s, ON and M. Trevor
MacLean of Moncton; grandson, Derek Christie (Radecia); brother, Dr.
Allen MacLean (Carol); several nieces and nephews, continuing with
four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother,
Dr. Arnold MacLean.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to
celebrate and honour William’s life will be held at Emmanuel
Baptist Church, 187 McLaughlin Drive, on Friday, June 16, 2017 at
11:00 am, with Rev. Jim Eagles and Rev. Joel Eastwood officiating.
Reception following the service. Interment will be held at Fair Haven
Memorial Gardens.
In memory of Bill, donations to the Greater Moncton SPCA or
Emmanuel Baptist Bible Institute would be appreciated by the family.
