Obituary of William “Bill” Leistra
Peacefully with family by his side at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, William “Bill” Leistra passed away at the age of 91. Predeceased by his wife Jean Leistra (Venhuizen), May 9, 2017. Beloved father of Diane (Cor) Pranger, John (Sylvia) Leistra, Clarence (Joanne) Leistra and Linda (Roger) Kroll. Dear grandfather of Greg (Eloise) Pranger, Matt (Rachel) Pranger, Jennifer (Shawn) Hummel; Jason, Andrew and Nathan Leistra; Katelyn (Wes) Hamstra, Steven (Stacey) Kroll and great grandfather of Payton, Mackenna, Bradon Pranger; Korsyn, Wesley, Sheldon, Quintin Pranger; Coen, Haley, Sydney, Ethan Hummel, and Paige Hamstra. Survived by brother Klaas (Etty) Leistra of Strathroy, sister Mien Meertens of the Netherlands and brother-in-law Klaas Loonstra of the Netherlands. Predeceased by his parents Jan and Ebelina Leistra, sisters Siets VanRy & Antje Loonstra and brothers-in-law Leendert VanRy and Jaap Meertens. Dearly loved by his extended family in Canada and in the Netherlands. Our dearly loved father, grandfather and great grandfather has now entered into his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior; his final immigration. He took nothing, but now has everything. Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Providence United Reformed Church, 447 Second St, Strathroy, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Harry Zekveld officiating. Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Strathroy Community Christian School, Cornerstone Building Campaign.
