Willard Ernest Cochrane – 1925-2017

Willard Ernest Cochrane, 91, of Sussex Corner passed away at the
Kiwanis Nursing Home on April 3, 2017.
Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Harry and Jessie (nee
Darrah) Cochrane.
Willard was always proud of the fact that he worked for Avro Arrow for
20 years, and then worked for A-1 Auto Supplies for 10 years. He so
enjoyed spending time making things in his woodshop and collecting
die-cast cars.
Willard is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Cochrane (nee
Simard);his daughter Laura Nyenhuis (Jerry Bashore) and his grandson
Jonathan Nyenhuis, all of Florida; his sister Vesta Garfield and his
nephew William Garfield (Sherry), all of Grand Bay-Westfield; his
step-children: Steven Cavanaugh (Margaret) of Port Hope, ON, Kathryn
Thornhill (Gordon) of Kingston Peninsula, and Christine Cavanaugh of
Saint John; as well as by several step-grandchildren and
step-great-grandchildren, other extended family members and friends.
Besides his parents, Willard was predeceased by his stepmother Doris
Cochrane.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex
Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex. There will be
no visitation or funeral service, a graveside service will be held in
St. James Anglican Cemetery in Brown’s Flats at a later date, as
per Willard’s request.
Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer
Society, the Kiwanis Nursing Home, or the Sussex Health Centre would
be appreciated by the family.
