On January 14, 2016 Vivian Boness of Victoria, B.C. was called home to be with her Lord. She was predeceased by her parents Ole and Ragna Thomassen; brothers Thorsten, Christian, and sisters Marie (Unsworth) and Malfrid.
Vivian is survived by her wonderful husband Glen of Victoria (Deceased: December 17, 2016), son Kenneth (Tammy), daughters Linda (Kent) Russell, Donna (Bruce) Manning, and Arlene, brothers Rolf, and Arvid, along with 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Vivian was born on March 18, 1931 in the District of Donalda, Alberta. She worked, part-time, in the children’s department of Woodwards until she graduated from King Edward High School in Vancouver. She then worked for the Community Chest as switchboard operator and receptionist. Leaving there, she spent one year in Alberta at the Camrose Lutheran Bible Institute where she learned a deeper knowledge of the Bible. Coming back to Vancouver, she was employed at the B.C. Assigned Risk Plan where they assigned insurance to hard to insure vehicle drivers, an interesting job, but the best job of all was being a wife for 61 years to Glen and mother to their four children and eventually grandmother, and great grandmother to their children.
She enjoyed singing in the choir, sewing, gardening and reading. Her pleasure in reading led to the position of librarian for 15 years, at Peace Lutheran Church in Sidney, B.C.
A donation in her memory can be made to Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots-Canada, 4966 – 92nd Ave. NW, Edmonton, AB., T6B 2V4, The Camrose Lutheran Bible Institute, 4837 – 52A St., Camrose, AB., T4V 1W5 or the charity of your choice.
