Violet May Green
1932-2017
On April 12, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John,
NB, Violet May Green, widow of Irvin Green of St. George, NB and
formerly of Grand Manan, NB passed away peacefully. Born on Grand
Manan on July 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and
Pearl (Tidd) Bagley. A loving wife of 66 years, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother, she is survived by one son Andrew (Mary) Green
of Christopher Lake, SK, one daughter Angela (Darren) Murphy of
Bloomfield, NB and grandchildren Anthony, Jody, Alicia, Amanda, Tyler,
Joshua and Alexander, as well as great-grandchildren Tristan, Dianna,
Keaton, Shannon, Shaia, Marshall and Piper, one sister Joyce Morse of
Grand Manan, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides
her parents, Violet was predeceased by her brothers Pete Bagley,
Ernest Bagley, Winston Bagley and Horace Bagley.
As a wife, Violet’s love for her late husband and soulmate Irvin
knew no bounds and was often said to be a testament to lifelong
commitment and dedication. She shared a special relationship with her
daughter Angela and son Andrew. To her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, she was known as Ging.
An avid animal lover, Violet loved her little dog Pug as well as
watching birds and deer roam through her backyard. She also loved
being around people and enjoyed spending time with people in her
building at Brunswick Court seniors’ complex. Ging was also
famously known for her lobster chowder and coconut cream pie. In her
younger years she also enjoyed camping and curling with friends.
Violet Green, Ging to those closest to her, will be fondly and forever
remembered by all those she met and whose lives she touched for her
humility, selflessness, generosity, kindness and smile.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home, (755-3533) 26
Portage St., St. George, NB. There will be no visitation. A memorial
service will take place at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2:00
pm. Interment for both Irvin and Violet will take place on Grand Manan
at a later date. In Violet’s memory, donations to the NB Heart &
Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
