Viola (Dusty) Duesterhoeft (nee Kruzer)
Peaceful after a lengthy illness in the early morning on December 26, 2017 Vy passed away at the age of 83.
Mom was predeceased by her parents David & Victorine Kruzer, brothers Alex (Dorothy) & Lloyd, her first husband Art and second husband Arvid Duesterhoeft.
She is survived by her loving family, son Eric (Jamie), daughter Sue (Lawrence) Neufeld, son Art and daughter Julie (Dennis). Mom will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Mitch, Jord, Nicole, Alena, Jessica & Kurt. She is also survived by numerous brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews.
She was born on August 22, 1934 in Neepawa, Manitoba. Mom made her home and lovingly raised her 4 children in Grande Pointe before she retired to St. Vital. She was a dedicated registered nurse and retired from providing geriatric care in the Municipal hospitals (now Riverview) in 1990.
Mom’s many interests included gardening, painting, woodwork, carving, stained glass and needlework. She was an enthusiastic crafter. Mom treasured her memories of travel to Europe, Alaska and the Maritimes with her special nursing buddies. She passed the years of her illness sharpening her Farkle gaming skills and enlisting unwilling participants in the “joy” of puzzling.
Special thank you to the staff & volunteers at Jocelyn House Memorial Foundation for the loving care provided during her 7 month stay. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to this inspiring charity.
Celebration of life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 2-4pm.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date in Neepawa.
“Enjoy your well-deserved rest Mom, you have earned it. You will be loved and remembered always.”
