Obituary for Verl Edgar Anderson
ANDERSON, Verl Edgar February 12, 1954 – April 28, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Verl Edgar Anderson in Calgary, Alberta on April 28, 2017 at the age of 63. Verl was a long-time and proud resident of the Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie, Alberta communities. He worked for many years for Proctor & Gamble Co. and volunteered numerous joyful hours with the Grande Prairie Little Theatre. In recent years he has been living in Calgary and, until his retirement two years ago, working as a Safety Officer in Fort McMurray. Verl greatly enjoyed cooking, art work, raising plants, taking care of their aquariums, as well as being a long-time supporter of the Calgary Stampeders. He was also very passionate about his Norwegian heritage and had been re-connecting with traditional songs originally introduced by his father. Verl leaves to mourn his passing his partner, Heidi Slauenwhite; mother, Agnes Anderson; daughters, Katherine and Victoria (Josh); sons Steven and Richard (Becky); siblings, Neil (Patricia), Terry (Elaine) and Joan (Bruce); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his son Mikel and father Albert. There will be a celebration of Verl’s life at the Citadel Care Centre (25 Erin Ridge Road, St. Albert in the Hummingbird Room) on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mustard Seed (102 – 11th Avenue South East, Calgary, AB T2G 9Z9; phone 403-269-1319 ext. 250).
