Obituary of Thomas Coleman
COLEMAN; Thomas J. passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. Tom Coleman was born in Bothwell in 1922, he was the only child of the late Alice & Rory Coleman. He grew up in the family residence on Oak Street and on the family farm in Euphemia Township. After graduating from Bothwell Continuation School and the London Normal School, Tom taught grade school at all levels in Windsor and Ajax. Soon after completing the Department of Education qualifications as an art specialist and an art supervisor he attended Parson School of Design in New York and graduated from the University of Toronto. For the final fifteen years of his teaching career, he was head of the Art Department at Riverdale Collegiate in Toronto. After his retirement, Tom pursued a second career as an interior designer with the Toronto firm of Gerrard Laumann Lts. He was a registered member of the professional interior design organizations IDC, ARIDO, ASID and IIDO.
Never married, Tom leaves no immediate family but he will be missed by relatives, friends and professional associates in Ontario, the United States, and abroad.
A Graveside Service will take place in the family plot on Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Bothwell. Arrangements entrusted to the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, 211 Elm Street, Bothwell. Online condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com
