Thomas Stevenson passed away Wednesday, December 14 at Hants Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 7, 1947, he was the son of Thomas and Ethel (Thompson) Stevenson. Tom met his wife while she was studying in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1968 to spend the rest of his life with her.
He spent much of his early life at sea serving on the Gypsum Prince for six years and later with Upper Lakes Shipping. After a serious injury, he returned home to Nova Scotia and worked as a painter until his illness forced him to retire.
Tom’s pride and joy was his family and the time spent with them. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah MacNeil, and daughters Lisa (John Hodgins), Lucan Ontario and Kirsten (Barrett Regan), Union Corner. He was a beloved Granddad to Shaelin and Hayleigh Hodgins. He is also survived by his brother Alex and sisters Jean Doran and Elizabeth Simpson, all of Glasgow, Scotland and a special uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Memorial donations in Tom’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
