Thomas Edward Potts - 2017

Thomas Edward Potts – 2017

Thomas (Tom) Edward Potts, (family name Teddy) born 27/2/1924, Bangalore, India. Son of Thomas Edward Potts (Snr) born 26/7/1896 in Madras India and Murial Mary Potts, nee Guise, nee Butler born 17/11/1903 in Bangalore, India.
He was educated in The Lawrence Memorial Royal Military School, Nilgiris, India, and Registered: 7/2/1931. Deceased 23/3/2017 in Valley Regional Hospital, 150 Exhibition Street, Kentville, Nova Scotia B4N 5E3, Canada. He Enlisted into the British Army, Royal Signals Boys Service 1939 to 1941 (Regimental Number 2328648). Transferred to SOE (Special Operations Executive) 1941 and served under Sir Fitzroy Maclean in Yugoslavia with the resistance movement throughout to 1945. He was then transferred to Jungle fighting training in Ceylon for SOE service in Burma and later Sumatra (interrogating Japanese prisoners). Returned to Royal Signals service 1948 (Rank Staff Sergeant) in Germany. Left the Army in 1950 and joined the Trawler Fleet in Hull, North Yorkshire, England and was employed in electronic intelligence gathering during the cold war, spending much time in the North Sea Area. He subsequently transferred to the Merchant Navy and served till retirement in Canada in 1989, age 65 years.
His 1st Marriage in 1950 was to Mabel Johnston, Hull, North Yorkshire, England. His 2nd Marriage was in 1952 to Joyce Potts nee Withers, Hull, North Yorkshire, England. Deceased 2015.
He was the second eldest, in the Potts family of seven children, after his elder sister Doris Eileen, followed by Kathleen Muriel, Mary Winifred (Honey), William Eric, Arthur Cyril, and George Alexander.
His was a family, though very close to each other in spirit and family ties spread themselves in different parts of the world following their own individual spiritual, family and life challenging choices. Even though reunions rarely took place, each member of his family continuously kept in touch with each other throughout the years.
It’s with much sadness that with the passing of many years, losing Tom now (Teddy to his family), brings much distress to the surviving two brothers and sister of his immediate family. Together with the rest of their numerous dependents.
He will be sadly missed. He will remain in our thoughts and hearts for the remainder of our lives.
Rest in Peace Our Beloved Teddy.
Cremation has already taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
