Thelma Jean Porter June 9, 1942 – February 26, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that the family of (Thelma) “Jean” Porter age 74 of Amherst announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Gables Lodge, Amherst.
Born in Baddeck, NS, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Pearl (Miller) Chapman.
Jean will be lovingly remembered for her love of gardening, shopping, decorating her home, travelling and becoming a snowbird with Rod for over 20 years in Florida. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 46 years, Rod; children Gina (Stacey) Crawford and Bonnie Porter both of Moncton, NB, Rod (Cindy) Beed of Oxford, Janice (Mitch) Meade and Diana (Fred) Blenkhorn both of Amherst, Rick (Teri) Porter of Fort Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Keith (Diane) Chapman of Lorneville; sister Barb (Jim) Coates of Amherst; sisters in-law Marilyn Chapman, Carolyn MacAloney and Darlene (Jim) Gould and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her brother Aubrey; sisters Connie, Joyce and Shirley Rose in infancy; brother in-law Bernell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1 – 2 with funeral service following at 2 pm both held at Trinity St. Stephen’s United Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906.
Donations can be made in Jean’s memory to the I.W.K., Children’s Wish Foundation or to the Residence Council of Gables Lodge.
