Tennyson Walker passed away peacefully at The Moncton
Hospital on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 89. Born in Moncton,
he was the son of the late Truman and Viola (Graves) Walker. Tennyson
is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Hilda (Thorne); his son,
William (Deborah); grandchildren, Cheryl, Christine, Peter, Pamela
(Stephen) and Richard (Christine) and great grandchildren, Silas,
Mason and James; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tennyson started work at Lounsbury Company in 1945 and
retired after 50 years as the President and General Manager of the
company. In addition to his work at Lounsbury’s, he was
active in the Moncton Rotary Club, Gideons of Canada and the Baptist
Foundation. Tennyson was a member and Deacon of the Highfield Baptist
Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. After he retired, he took an
interest in the garden in his backyard and had a special spot for his
gladiolus.
In addition to his parents, Tennyson was predeceased by his
brothers, Raymond, Herbert, Neil and sister, Blonda.
Visitation at Highfield Baptist Church, 290 St. George St.,
on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to
celebrate and honour Tennyson’s life will be held at
Highfield Baptist Church on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 am, with
Rev. Gary Barr and Rev. Greg Sparkes officiating. Reception following
the service in the Church Hall. Interment will be held in Fair Haven
Memorial Gardens.
