1946-2017
Shirley Anne Chartier passed away peacefully, surrounded by
her family at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John on October 23,
2017. Born in Cornwall Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Harry
and Maureen (Keough) Jansen. She is predeceased by her husband Peter
Chartier (2014).
Shirley has always been a highly respected and loved member
of the community of Dipper Harbour, and in recent years Grand
Bay-Westfield. She was an innovator and driving force in the fishing
community along the Bay of Fundy, but her biggest accomplishment has
always been her loving relationships with friends and family. In
particular, spending time with her Grandchildren Kirkland and Grace
has always given her immense joy. Shirley has travelled extensively,
visiting countless destinations to feed her passion for experiencing
other cultures. Her strong faith in God has always given her
inspiration, comfort and acceptance.
She is survived by her son, Bryan (Ingrid) Chartier, of
Toronto; daughter, Maureen (Brad) Melanson, of Grand Bay-Westfield;
sister, Colleen Jansen (Elizabeth); brother, Dan Jansen (Debby);
brother, Gerry (Kris) Jansen; sister, Anne (Paula) Jansen; brother,
James (Amy) Jansen; grandchildren, Kirkland and Grace Melanson; also,
several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and her
beloved puppy, Merlot.
