Sandrin

It is with heavy hearts and a lifetime of memories that we share the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend to so many. Junior passed away peacefully on Saturday April 1st, 2017 in his 69th year at home with his family and friends, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Junior was predeceased by his parents; Albert and Alma (nee Caron), his brother Gino, all of Kirkland Lake and his brother-in-law, Joe Hoffman of Tillsonburg, ON. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mona and his cherished children, Tara (Shawn), Jordon (Chantal) and Joshua, all of Kirkland Lake. He was the very proud and much loved Nonno to Ella and Ethan LaCarte, Alexander Sandrin and Dawson Sandrin, all of Kirkland Lake. Junior is also survived by his sister Beverly Hoffman (late Joe) of Tillsonburg, ON; sister Shirley (Darryl) Richmond of London, ON, and sister-in-law Betty Sandrin (late Gino) of London, ON as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, all who adored him. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Bacon. Junior was born May 6, 1948, and with the exception of a short time spent in London ON working for the Ford Motor Company, he lived all his life in Kirkland Lake…. for the past many years at Crystal Lake in a home that was always filled with love and laughter, and a home where family and friends loved to gather…. and where his Lake neighbours both past and present were such an important part of his extended family.
Upon his Father’s retirement in 1973, Junior along with his brother Gino and Cousin George Sandrin, took over the operation of Kirkland Lake Machine & Welding, a long standing business well known across the North. Following the closure of Kirkland Machine, Junior owned and operated Nor Can Containers for many years and then in 1999 Junior and Mona purchased the Federal Tavern. It would be an environment he thrived in, people loved going to “The Fed” to have a beer with Junior and listen to him tell stories…. and an accomplished story teller he was! Wherever Junior was, you could be sure fun and laughter abounded! He lived life large and made lifelong friends where ever he went. He touched many heart’s with his fun-loving, warm personality, his infectious smile, and his legendary generosity. When you needed a favour you called Junior. When you needed advise on cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and barges….pretty much anything that had a motor, you called Junior. He had a huge heart and would help anybody, anytime.
Junior loved life, whether he was heading out on a leisurely road trip in his motorhome, or taking a rip down the highway on his beloved Harley, he embraced every second of the journey… always stopping along the way to enjoy the sights and the people he met! Junior’s greatest love was his family and his huge extended family. He and Mona were never happier then when the kids and grandkids and friends were gathered at the house. He was an exceptional father and we are so very thankful he was ours. As per Junior’s wishes aqua cremations has taken place.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Heather Taylor Sandrin and Darren Graydon who, during Junior’s long battle stood by our sides, being instrumental in helping us in all aspects of his care.
The family would also like to recognize and say thank you for the exceptional care provided to Junior and the support provided to the family by the dedicated nurses of the VON and the staff at CCAC. We could not have done this without you.
