With saddened hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of Rose Catherine (Pentecost) MacAulay, age 66, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (MacGuigan) Pentecost. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Sydney Mines.
Rosie will always be remembered by her kind words and offers to help in any way she could. She and her husband Sandy recently celebrated their 44th year of marriage on September 28, 2017. She will also be missed dearly by her Fort McMurray family and friends, where she was known as Grammie to all the neighbourhood families and children.
Rosie is survived by her husband Sandy, daughter Trisha, Sydney Mines, her son Sandy (Cheryl), as well as two grandchildren Brianna and Kolten, Fort McMurray, AB. Rose also leaves behind her brother Stephen, sisters Theresa Knee, Nfld and Florence Pentecost, Alder Point as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law Patti, Brian and Wayne (Mickey) MacAulay, Sydney Mines, Billy MacAulay, Halifax and Beatrice (Bobby) Squarey, Sydney Mines. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including Shauna (Shawn) Moore, Susan (Wilfred) Dove, Buddy Pentecost and Jamie (Dinah) MacAulay.
Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her brothers Arthur, John, David and James and her sisters Christine Williams and Bernadette Chapman.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 1, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St, Sydney Mines. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception and celebration of life will follow at Sydney Mines Senior Citizens & Pensioners Club, 6 Fraser Ave, Sydney Mines.
