Rose and Alex Storoshenko - July 10

Obituary for Rose and Alex Storoshenko
STOROSHENKO, Rose (nee Walchuk) June 26, 1943 – July 10, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Storoshenko of Calgary on Monday, July 10, 2017 after a long and brave battle with ovarian cancer. Her strength, courage, and determination along with her strong faith kept her positive until God called her home. She was briefly survived by her loving husband Alex of 55 years. Rose was born in Horne, Alberta near Edmonton where she met the love of her life Alex at the age of 16 and married at 18 years of age. Together they had a beautiful family, James, Sherrie, and David. They relocated their family to Calgary in 1979. While raising her family, Rose worked part-time starting at Woodward’s and ending at Safeway. Rose’s passions were: family first, followed by prayer, bible studies, making and sharing ribbon roses and a love of shopping in all its varied forms. Rose is predeceased by her brother Stanley, John and her sister Ann. She leaves behind her brothers; Joe (Mary), Tony and Walter (Germaine), sister-in-law Ann; her children James (Lisa), Sherrie, and David (Kelli); and eight grandchildren: Chris (Sue), Britney (Cody), Braydon, Kirsten, Mackenzie, Alexandra, Beau, and Sophia and three great grandchildren, Corban, Asher, and Daisy.
STOROSHENKO, Alexander Paul December 7, 1936 – July 12, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Paul Storoshenko of Calgary on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 after a short diagnosis of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and a broken heart. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rose whom he cared for and fought alongside with during her illness. Alex was born in Pathfinder on a farm, near Edmonton where he was the youngest of four children. He moved to Edmonton in 1955 with his parents. In 1959, he met Rose and they were married soon after and later moved to Calgary. Alex retired from Dome Petroleum as a tax advisor in 1992. Alex enjoyed the sunshine in Mesa and more recently in Palm Desert. He loved his family deeply, crosswords, game shows and had a strong faith. Alex was predeceased by his sister Ellen (Lloyd); and brother’s Michael, Nick (Sylvia) and Morris. He leaves behind his sister-in-law Alberta; his children James (Lisa), Sherrie, and David (Kelli); and eight grandchildren Chris (Sue), Britney (Cody), Braydon, Kirsten, Mackenzie, Alexendra, Beau, and Sophia; and three great grandchildren, Corban, Asher, and Daisy.
Our family can’t thank enough the nurses, doctors and staff at the Foothills hospital and particularly the special people at Dulcina Hospice who’s diligent, compassionate care was so much appreciated.
