HASTIE, Ronald J. “Ron”
1942 – 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Hastie announces his passing at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Monday December 18, 2017 at the age of 75. He leaves to mourn his wife Joan of 55 years, his son Ian Hastie (Maike), and daughter Michelle (Allin Glover). Ron was a proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren; Marlee (Alex Hewison), Victoria Hastie, Ryan Glover, Emily Glover and two great grandchildren; Connor and Avery Hewison. Dear brother of Keith (Jean) of Hanover, ON; Garry (Carol) of Durham, ON; and Clifford (friend Lynn) of Mount Forest, ON. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Ron was a firefighter for 35 years with the Newmarket Fire Department (CYFS) and has been retired for 17 years. His greatest hobby was racing Homing Pigeons and serving on the board of directors with the Canadian Union of Racing Pigeons. He held many executive positions with the Up North Combine. The family would like to thank Nurse Tracie, Dr. Finkel, Dr. Luk and Dr. Baguio for everything they did for Ron to make his last moments so peaceful. Upon Ron’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
