Ronald Barclay Gould
1938-2017
The death of Ronald Barclay Gould, husband of Sandra,
occurred on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his residence, The Briarlea,
where he had received patient, loving care for the past three and a
half years.
The son of the late Barclay and Greta Gould of Middleton,
Nova Scotia, Ron was a graduate of Acadia University(1959), University
of New Brunswick (1964 and University of Moncton (1970). As
a young man, he came to Moncton to work at Canadian Oil before
becoming a teacher. He served as principal of West Riverview
School from 1968-1978 and Riverview Junior High School from 1978-1996.
His successful career was made possible by his management skills and
the co-operation he received from members of his loyal teaching,
secretarial, and custodial staff.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Meredith Arsenault
(Stephen) of Riverview, and their children Katie and Matthew; daughter
Andrea Andriopoulos (Dimitri) of Halifax and their daughters Alexa and
Sophia; brother Larry Gould (Donna) of Middleton; sister in law Marcia
Geldart Hicks (Jim Munn) of Moncton; and three nieces and four
nephews. Ron was predeceased by Sandra’s parents
Reginald and Dora Geldart and by sister-in-law, Vivian Kley of New
York.
Ron loved travelling, skiing and attending Broadway shows and
before being stricken by Alzheimer’s disease he enjoyed many
trips to Europe and South America with his wife, and ski trips with
family and friends, in particular, Michael Bourgeois.
The family is grateful for those friends who took Ron skiing
even after he was in need of assistance and to those who visited at
his residence, although his condition did not allow him to communicate
or show recognition.
Relatives and friends are welcome to Cobb’s Funeral
