Rodger Henderson
March 5, 1945 – July 7, 2017
At home, at peace, and surrounded by love, on July 7.
Cherished husband of Barb, Rodger was a very proud Dad to daughters Kate (Tom), Heather (Greg), Amy (Vernon), and Kelly, Uncle Rodg to Michael Barilla, and grandfather to Will, Maude, Sammy, Desmond, and Finley.
Alumnus of Ridley College and University of Toronto, Trinity College, he was a lifelong educator, coaching sports teams, and teaching English and Drama, at Crescent School and in the KPRDSB.
His love of music carried through into retirement, when he invested in the community as a member of the Northumberland Players, and worked tirelessly alongside Barb and other board members to found Ten Thousand Villages Cobourg, and then helped build Sounds of the Next Generation (SONG).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Horizons of Friendship or SONG.
Special thanks to Rodg and Barb’s strong community for their friendship and support, and to Val Russell and Paul Caldwell for their extraordinary care that allowed Rodg to remain at home with his girls.
