1921-2017
The death of Roberta McCaffrey occurred in Fredericton on
December 20, 2017. Roberta was born at Gondola Point, NB, on April 16,
1921, the daughter of Fred and Mina (Reicker) Kierstead. She was
predeceased by her husband Willard McCaffrey after sixty years of
marriage in 2004.
She is survived by her four children, George (Alan) of Saint
John, NB, Grant of Hunter River, PEI, Gard (Nancy) of Tide Head, NB,
and Nan (Bruce) Smith of Kentville, NS. Also grandchildren, Karen and
Donnie McCaffrey of PEI, and Todd and Keegan Wood of
AB.
She was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and
grandchildren.
Roberta graduated Rothesay High School in 1938 and the
Provincial Normal School in 1940. She taught in various schools in
Kings and Saint John counties and retired in 1981 from Harold Peterson
Junior High in Oromocto.
After her Baptism at age ten in the Kennebecasis River, her
constant joy, comfort, and strength was her commitment to Jesus Christ
and the reading of the Bible.
She was a member of Morning Gate Church (Congregational
Churches in Canada) in Fredericton.
Resting at McAdam’s Funeral Home, Fredericton, with
visitation at 10 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017, followed by the
funeral service in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 11 am.
Pastor Deborah MacDonald will officiate. Interment will take place in
the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish,
donations may be made to Morning Gate Church or the SPCA.
