Richard Murphy
October 5, 1940 – January 5, 2017
On January 5, 2017, Richard Joseph Murphy died peacefully at Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg. He was in his 76th year. Father to Simone Murphy, Susie McAfee (Dan), and Grandfather to two skookum boys, Oliver and Isaac. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Alice May Kuba; brothers Walter and Francis Murphy; nephews Ryan, Ian, Brendan, and Curtis; and niece Devin. Rick was born in Toronto, served in the Canadian Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Branch (RCCS) in his youth and was stationed in Germany. He later worked as an electrician for BC Hydro, K-line, and General Motors. He was a proud member of the Canadian Autoworkers Union. He enjoyed his retirement in Peterborough. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Golden Plough Lodge and Northumberland Hills Hospital. Cremation with a Celebration of Life to follow.
