PARENTEAU, Raoul (Ralph) Jean-Baptiste
February 18, 1932 – September 14, 2017
At the age of 85, Ralph passed away while resting peacefully at the High River Hospital after struggling with his memory loss due to dementia.
Born in the small farming community of Pierreville, Quebec, Ralph (at the age of 13) and his six other brothers lost their father to an accident. A few years later he and his younger brother Fern moved west to eventually work in the oilfield industry for the… rest of their working lives. Married in Paris France in 1958 to his wife of 27 years (Patricia Anne nee Higgins), they and their four children (Robert, Nicole, David, and Jacqueline) saw much of the world as he worked in places such as Lybia, Australia, Algeria, and Iran. Eventually returning to Canada after 10 years abroad, he and his family settled in southern Ontario for 6 years and finally moved back to Calgary where he retired at 55. As a snowbird, he spent his retirement years between Yuma Arizona and Sicamous, BC. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed a good game of cribbage, loved watching golf tournaments and hockey, and remained a fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
He is survived by his eldest son Robert (Sandy) , his two daughters Nicole (her stepdaughter Jo-Anna) and Jackie, his grandson Austin (by David), and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed – until we meet again on the day God calls us all.
We will hold a small service for family and close friends at Queens Park Cemetery in the spring.
