Paul William Lazar – 2016

PAUL WILLIAM LAZAR
It is with great sadness that the family of Paul, born on July 4, 1932 in Lestock, SK announce his passing on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Calgary, AB. Paul is reunited with his parents, Joseph and Margaret Lazar; brothers, Frank, Joe, John, Lou, and Les; sisters, Elizabeth Marie, Elizabeth, Margaret, Judy, Victoria, Vic, Terry, Frances, and Rose. He is also reunited with his son-in-law Ivan Wrigley and Grandkids, Kyril Wrigley and Allana Morton. Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his brother Richard Lazar; wife Sylvia Lazar; children, Melody Reid, Brenda and Stewart Morton, Regan Lazar, and Joanne Leask; step-children, Tim and Alison Anaka, Lori and Curtis Hitchcock; Grandkids, Tricia, Kelley, Trace, Aleena, and Brady; and Great-grandkids, Taylor (Bug), Kruz, and Nixon; step-Grandkids, Kate, Ella, and Hannah. Paul will also be lovingly missed by extended family and friends. Paul lived in Lampman, SK most of his life, where he taught Senior Math. He always said he was happy to be retired, but that he missed the students. Dad had an incredibly sharp mind. Every one of us still called him for help and he never let us down. Just this past week, we all were together to celebrate an early Christmas, Brenda and Stew’s 25th anniversary, and Mel’s birthday. Papa and Nixon played all afternoon one day and had such a fun filled day! At the end of it, Nixon announced to everyone that Papa was his best friend! That’s the kind of Papa he was; best friend to a three year old, which says it all. The world stopped for his grandkids. He always kept Skittles in his shirt pocket for the little ones, and became Papa Skittles to them! Family was everything to Dad. Each time Paul was asked what he wanted, either for a gift or for supper or whatever, his response, without fail, was “time, more time” and we had time! 84 years of fun, happiness, and great love! He was so very proud of all of us and we were of him. Everyone thinks they have the best Dad, but we know – WE REALLY DID! WE LOVE YOU DAD! Funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection R.C. Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens. Flowers most gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing, may make a memorial donation in Paul’s name, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #26-1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
