Paul Harold Crabbe
1924-2017
The death of Paul Harold Crabbe of Fredericton occurred
December 30th, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born May 8th, 1924 in Riverbank, NB, Paul was the son of the late
Harold and Helen (Long) Crabbe.
As a young man, Paul attended school in Riverbank and
Florenceville, NB. In 1943 Paul and his father, Harold, started a
lumber business. In 1947 his brothers, Deane and Neville,
joined the family business and it became known as H.J. Crabbe and
Sons. He was very proud of his family business. Paul was a true
entrepreneur. In 1953 he built the Fort Nashwaak Motel in Barkers
Point, and in 1966 the Fairway Motor Inn in Sussex. Paul’s
talent for business saw him operate a number of businesses over the
years, including Brunswick Office Equipment, Brunswick Res-taurant
Equipment, Laura Lee Lighting and Marks Work Warehouse. Paul also had
a passion for politics and he was very active in the PC Party. Paul
was an amazing father and grandfather, spending as much time with his
family as he possibly could. He had a smile for everyone and a zest
for life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His
children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Beth Crabbe-Dow (Jack) of
Fredericton, and Heather Zilbert (David) of Fredericton;
grandchildren, Alaina Dow and Colten Dow of Fredericton, Nolan Zilbert
of Toronto and Noah Zilbert of Fredericton as well as many special
nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his loving wife, Muriel
(Foster) Crabbe; daughter, Dianne Dixon of Freder-icton; parents,
Harold and Helen Crabbe of Bristol; siblings, Deane Crabbe of Bristol,
Neville Crabbe of Red Rapids, Audrey Clark of Halifax, NS, and Avis
Savage of Lakeville, NB.
Paul was a person of faith who always put others first. His
kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on
Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral
service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Wednesday,
January 3rd at 11 am. Interment will take place in Forest Hill
Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of
Paul may be made to Brunswick Street Baptist Church or charity of the
donor’s choice.
