Patricia Brigette DaSilva
Patricia would like to let you know that her work here is done. She is attending an assignment from which she will not be returning. This comes with a reunion with her husband Rudy, brothers Everett, Gabriel, Desmond and her sisters Pauline, Yvonne, Genie and Maureen. Her new role puts her in a place where she will be socializing, dancing, singing and cooking to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her mission here, she had a great life and loves you all.
Patricia DaSilva, age 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at Quinte Gardens in Belleville after a brief illness. Patricia was born on November 22, 1930 in Georgetown, British Guiana, the daughter of Jerome DeSouza and Maria DeSouza (DaCosta). She is survived by her children and grandchildren whose photos she would share with prospective friends in the checkout line, in church or anywhere else she could: Jerry (wife Linda); Jim (wife Jane, children Randy and Derek); Elizabeth (children Rheanna (Colin) and George (Ami); Peter (wife Wendy, children Andrew (Melissa) and Samantha (Shane); her great-grandchildren Taj, Lily, Payton and Clark along with her sisters Claudette and Judy. Patricia is also survived by her loving and dear friend Bill Morris, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. In 1951, Patricia married the love of her life Rudy DaSilva (deceased) and they moved to the family home in Georgetown where they operated a print shop and night club. They immigrated to Canada in 1962 and eventually moved to Cherry Valley Ontario. Patricia enjoyed a successful career working as a Clerk Treasurer for Athol Township. Patricia was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Interlink Choir and an active volunteer. In her mind and heart her greatest accomplishment was her family, she was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked hard to make sure that everyone was welcomed into her home and there was always a place for everybody at her dinner table Patricia became a very social member of the Quinte Gardens community, she became involved with many activities and prided herself on the work they did together to help less fortunate members of the Belleville community. She is well known as a very fashion conscious and well-dressed lady. Never was she seen in public without being very nicely dressed with her hair and make-up just perfect. Patricia will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the team at Quinte Gardens for the wonderful care for Patricia and also the support shown to us. Friends are invited to visit at the Burke Funeral Home (613-968-6968) 150 Church St, Belleville on Friday, December 8th, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church (169 North Park St. Belleville) on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
