On July 5, 2017, Nikolai “Nick” Bura of Evansburg, AB passed away at the age of 87 years.
Nick is survived by his loving partner of 37 years, Anita Vanguard; children, Adele (Ray) Knudson, Phyllis (Brian) Tuttle, Lynn (Andrew) Gramatovich, Faith Beier (Wil Okraincee), Dennis (Jodi) Bura, Jonie (Kevin) Gerspacher and Loren (Shelley) Bura; step-children, Rick (Brenda) Vanguard, Sande (Brian) Macleod and Rachelle Vanguard; sisters, Olga, Nancy (Bruce), Jean, Mary, and Verna (Peter); 31 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his father, Peter; mother, Akilina; wife, Mary (nee Stepaniuk) in 1979; infant daughter, Dianne Louise; and brothers-in-law, Pete and Andy.

Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 196, 4823 – 50 Street, Evansburg, with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ruth Lotholz officiating with interment in Evansburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick’s name may be made to the Mayerthorpe Hospital Auxiliary Association, Box 582, Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0.
