Obituary of Nancy Vallings
Vallings, Nancy Gillian (Jill)
Of Peterborough, Ontario, formerly of Brighton, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 1st, 2017, in her 84th year. Jill was predeceased by her brother Hugh MacCallum and his daughter Elizabeth (Liz). Jill leaves behind and is fondly remembered by her husband, Jack Vallings, Judith Nicholas (sister) & Glyn (brother-in law), Troon, Gwedhen; Barbara MacCallum (sister-in law), Sam & Anita. She will be dearly missed by her children, Jed Vallings & Gillian Kearns (New Zealand), Judy Vallings (Calgary), Jennifer & Greg Vansteenkiste (Camlachie), Barbara Jane & Steven Willoughby (Desbarats), her treasured grandchildren Jeffrey, Hannah, Reid, Wesley, Ryan, Michael, and gifted caregiver and new family member Rosario Velado. Born in Toronto, to Alice and Reid MacCallum on January 27, 1933, Jill enjoyed playing recorder and harpsichord, kayaking and bird watching with her friend Sue, wild flower walks with her sister, and riding motorcycles with Jack. She is fondly remembered by her former students of mathematics at East Northumberland Secondary School. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Lakefield Extended Care, Dr. Silverberg, Dr. Hughes, and Dr. Turner. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Nature Conservancy Canada.
