Obituary of Myrtle Mitchell
Mitchell, Myrtle – It is with great sadness that the family of Myrtle Anne Mitchell – affectionately known throughout her lifetime as Babs Mitchell, announces her peaceful passing on Friday November 17th.
Babs was born June 13, 1932. She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 54 years, Lennex Mitchell.
She leaves behind their five children, Valerie Leachman (née Mitchell), Michael Mitchell, D’Orsay Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, and Paula Walsh (née Mitchell). Her grandchildren, Andrea, Hilary, Dylan, James, David, Jesse, Dallas, and Sarah. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Babs was a busy, active woman throughout her life. She was a mother, wife, homemaker, seamstress, handicrafter, voracious reader, and avid church volunteer. A creative and fun-loving person, she taught her children the value of hard work, perseverance, optimism, kindness, generosity, and honesty.
Fifteen years before her death, she suffered a debilitating stroke leaving her wheelchair bound. Despite this drastic life-changing event she never lost her love of life, her colourful personality bringing smiles to the faces of all who knew her until her final days.
She will be sorely missed.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown 905-877-3631. In memory contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy visit www.jsjonesandsonfuneralhome.com
