Myrtle MacDonald

Myrtle Mac Donald, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at The Village Senior’s Community, Hanover on Thursday, May 04, 2017. She was 80.
Born on July 4, 1936 in Bluewater, Nova Scotia. After completing grade 9, she headed into the workforce and was employed in housekeeping and waitressing. Myrtle moved to Sault Ste. Marie when she was in her mid 20’s and after several moves she finally found her home in Hanover. She kept busy working in restuarants, as a PSW in a long term care home in Shelburne, with the Children’s Aid Society and ending her employment at Walmart in Hanover. Myrtle married Nelson “Red” MacDonald who was a long distance driver. Together they raised and groomed poodles and scotch collies. Myrtle had a love for pets and enjoyed cats and iguanas. She had a cock-a-teel of which she even taught one to “boogie”. In her quiet time she enjoyed crocheting, reading (especially romance novels by Danielle Steele), playing cards including euchre and one eyed jacks as well as bowling. She even ran a children’s bowling league in Feversham for a few years. Famous for her tea biscuits and faithfully watching CSI, Law & Order and Family Feud, Myrtle loved her family and they will miss her terribly.
Survived by daughter Laurie MacDonald of Hanover, grandmother of Douglas and Laurie. Fondly remembered by her sister in law Faye Moore of Hanover. Very special aunt of Nancy (Tim) Mellish of Hanover, Jennifer (Ken) Swindlehurst of Durham, Sara Cox (Tim Reutz) of Neustadt and nephew Dan (Lynn) Cox of Hanover. Loved by several great and great great nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her beloved husband Nelson ” Red” Mac Donald and brother in law David Moore.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be updated as soon as possible.
