Murray (Sonny) Leslie McLellan
1946-2017
Sonny McLellan of Nackawic, NB passed away January 3, 2017 at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital. Sonny was born at Minto, NB in 1946, a son
of the late Murray McLellan and Irene (Lawrence) McLellan-Risch.
Sonny was a well respected Union brother Local 219. He loved the game
of hockey, both playing and refereeing and was active in the Referees
Association, serving as Zone Chairman for NB for 43 years. Sonny
enjoyed golf and dancing and was involved in Seniors Fastball for a
number of years. He loved his family and spending time with them.
His grandchildren, who he thought the world of, held a special place
in his heart. Sonny also enjoyed leisurely drives with his dog
Blackie.
He is survived by his wife, Merlene (Boyd) McLellan; his children,
Darin McLellan, Montreal, QC, Derrick McLellan (Deanna), Nackawic, NB
and Venessa McLellan, Quispamsis, NB; four grandsons, Shane and Luke
McLellan, Patrick and Matthew Kaine; three granddaughters, Alexandria
McLellan, Keaton and Easton Braun; a brother, Brian McLellan (Diana),
Minto, NB; four sisters, Rhonda Bergeron (Paul), Moncton, NB, Heidi
Risch (Peter), Montreal, QC, Sue Risch, Hamilton, ON and Lori Risch
(Pascale), Hamilton, ON; his step-mother, Vivian McLellan, Minto, NB;
special niece, Connie Bridges (Ken), Hamilton, ON; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law in Merlene’s family, Clayton (Donna) and
Leslie (Sherry), both of Fredericton, NB, Willard (Bernadette),
Nackawic, NB, Connie, New Hampshire and Rhetta, Florida; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Marilyn
and Sharon; a brother-in-law, Russ Boyd; a niece Michele Boyd; a
nephew, Quentin Boyd; his step-father, Kurt Risch and his
parents-in-law, Harold and Tillie Boyd.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis
Drive, Nackawic, NB on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 11 am to 2 pm,
followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel
with Rev. Darrell McLellan officiating. A reception will follow in
the funeral home dining room. Interment will be at a later date.

Western Valley or a charity of the donor’s choice.
