MOONEY, Phyllis Evelyn (nee Wood) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sweet mother/grandmother, Phyllis, on December 3, one day after the death of her son, Bob. Phyllis was in her 98th year, passing away peacefully at Westgate Lodge. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband, Alan, (1994) and son Bob, (2017). She will be profoundly missed by her daughter, Fern Colson (Wilbert). She is deeply loved by her four grandchildren: Eric Colson (Michelle) Kingston, Shannon Colson (Bill) Golden Lake, Lindsey Pascoe (Jeff) Red Deer, AB., and Andrea Smith (Michel) Ft. McMurray, AB, and all eight great-grandchildren, Rhett, Nick, Tayler, Brayden, Waylon, Reid, Calleigh and Evey. John Wood, London, is Phyllis’s only surviving brother, after losing Ritchie several years ago. “Mom/Gram, you’re the sweetest person we all know. We have all been so blessed to have descended from you, and Dad/Papi too. Your greatest concern has always been for others, even asking caregivers how many more hours they have to work, could you help them, do they have far to drive in the snow, etc., and thanking everyone for absolutely any and everything done for you. You have become famous for your signature statement, “I’m so lucky”. One of your biggest gifts to all of us has been recognizing this quality of gratefulness that you have, and being reminded to find gratitude under all circumstances. You are a completely self-less person and have been a wonderful role model for all of us. We’re happy you always felt so lucky but in truth, we’ve been the ones who were lucky. And dying one day after Bob, what is that about? You two were close and somehow that comforts us. We all love you. You will be so missed.” Funeral arrangements for Phyllis and Bob: Visitation will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 11am on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Interment Belleville Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
